The short version
Sunup does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party code. The app never connects to a server. Everything it needs stays on your iPhone.
1. Who we are
Sunup is a free iPhone app published by Anıl Göral (“we”, “us”). Contact details are at the end of this policy.
2. Data we collect
None. We do not receive any information about you or how you use your phone. In Apple's App Store terms, Sunup is labelled Data Not Collected.
3. Data stored only on your device
To work, Sunup keeps the following information locally in the app's private storage on your iPhone. It is never sent to us or to anyone else:
- Your settings: the time apps lock, your calm time, and the time everything unlocks.
- Your app choices: stored as anonymous tokens created by Apple's Screen Time. The tokens only work on your device. Sunup never stores or sends the names of the apps you chose; while an app is locked, iOS gives its name to Sunup's lock screen only to show it there.
- Today's times: when apps were locked, when you started using your phone, and when they unlocked.
- An activity log: timestamped technical entries (for example “unlock timer started”) to help troubleshoot. It contains no app names and is excluded from device backups.
Settings and app choices may be included in your own encrypted iCloud or computer backups, like the data of any other app. Only you can access those backups.
4. Screen Time
Sunup uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks (Family Controls, Device Activity and Managed Settings). iOS processes your device activity on your iPhone and only tells Sunup that a usage threshold was reached (that you used your phone for one minute). Sunup never receives your usage history or which apps you used. Information from these frameworks is never shared, sold or used for advertising or any other purpose than locking and unlocking the apps you chose.
5. Sharing
We share nothing because we have nothing. The only way any data leaves your iPhone is if you choose to share the activity log yourself (for example to send it to us when asking for help). In that case you decide where it goes, and we use it only to answer your request.
6. Retention and deletion
- Data stays on your iPhone until you change it, clear the activity log, or delete the app.
- Deleting Sunup removes all of its data and every restriction it set.
- You can revoke Sunup's Screen Time access at any time in the Settings app under Screen Time, or by deleting the app.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK, KVKK in Türkiye, or CCPA/CPRA in California), you have rights to access, correct, delete or port personal data and to object to processing. Because Sunup does not collect personal data, we hold nothing that could be accessed or deleted, and all data on your device is under your control as described above. 8. Children
Sunup is suitable for everyone and collects no data from anyone, including children.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date. Because Sunup collects no data, we don't expect material changes.
