Sunup

Start your day, not your feed.

Sunup locks the apps you choose early every morning. When you start using your phone, a calm countdown begins, and the apps unlock by themselves after the time you picked. Everything always unlocks by your safety time, so you can never get stuck. Free, with no ads, no account and no tracking.

How it works

  1. Locked before you wake. At your lock time (for example 4:00), the apps you chose are locked.
  2. You start your day. After one minute of using other apps, Sunup knows you're up. No alarm needed.
  3. A calm first stretch. Your apps stay locked for your calm time (for example one hour).
  4. Unlocks on its own. They unlock on their own, and always by your “Always unlock by” time.

Help

Nothing was locked this morning

Make sure Morning lock is on, Screen Time access is allowed, and at least one app is selected under “Apps to lock”. If you turned Sunup on during the morning, it starts the next day. Use Try a quick demo to see it working right away.

My apps didn't unlock when I expected

Your countdown only starts after one minute spent in the apps or categories under “Starts my day”. Select all categories so any app counts. Looking at the lock screen or notifications doesn't count. iOS can also deliver timing events a minute or two late.

Can I get stuck?

No. Everything unlocks at your “Always unlock by” time. You can also turn Morning lock off at any time, and deleting the app removes every restriction.

Does Sunup see what I do on my phone?

No. Apple's Screen Time handles your activity on your device. Sunup is only told that you used your phone for a minute, never what you did. Read the privacy policy.

Sending a bug report

In Sunup, open About & help → Activity log and tap the share button to attach the log to your email. It contains only timestamps and technical events, never app names.
